Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect during my first Body Work session?

It will be important for you to fill out a health history form before your first appointment listing all health concerns and medications so Tracey can adapt the session to your specific needs. In your session, Tracey may also perform certain assessments and testing to determine what best methods are appropriate for you

Will the Body Work treatment hurt?

Pain can be an indication that the muscle is possibly injured or inflamed and pressure needs to be adjusted to avoid further discomfort. Communication is key. When you first feel pain, speak up. There is no such thing as " no pain, no gain."

Can I talk during my session?

It is important to communicate your body work expectations with your therapist. Talking is encouraged as you are processing your session.

Do I have to listen to whale calls or flutes during my session?

While many therapists play slower, quieter types of music, you can choose to have different music or no music at all. Tracey offers Pandora for all your listening pleasures.

How will I feel after my Body Work session?

Most people feel an improved range of motion, clarity of mind and more balanced. You may also feel thirsty too. Body work is like a "work out" and Tracey encourages you to enjoy plenty of water after a session to keep your body tissues hydrated. If you have questions or concerns following your session, do not hesitate to call to discuss your concerns.

How many sessions will I need?

Every person is unique. It may take one session to alleviate a particular issue or it may take several. For chronic issues, it may be advisable to schedule preventative body work maintenance. You and Tracey will be able to talk more specifically about this after your first session and have had a chance to evaluate your issues.

When should I not get a Body Work session?

Please cancel and reschedule your appointment if you have a fever, cold/flu, or contagious skin infection. There are many other conditions where Tracey may need to adapt her techniques (i.e. arthritis or osteoporosis) or avoid an area completely (i.e. cuts or burns). With some conditions it is a good idea to get an approval from your physician before you receive body work  (cancer, certain heart conditions, high risk pregnancy). This doesn't mean you can't have a body work session. When in doubt, call and Tracey can advise you about your specific needs.
